Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah hosts IYF Board of Directors
Read All PostsThe IYF Board of Directors gathers today in Amman, Jordan, for a two-day session hosted by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah. On the Board’s agenda is an official welcome to five new members. “It is a great pleasure to welcome such talented and dedicated leaders from the business, government, and NGO sectors,” says William S. Reese, President and CEO of IYF. “We are also deeply grateful to Her Majesty, who is such a powerful global advocate for youth and who continues to advance IYF’s work.”
New Directors joining at this meeting include:
- Bernise Ang, a young social entrepreneur who founded Syinc, a youth-led nonprofit in Singapore;
- Bill Conn, investment banker and former Board Chair of the Foundation for Young Australians;
- Olivier Fleurot, Executive Chairman of Publicis Worldwide and former CEO of the Financial Times Group;
- Veli Sundback, former Executive Vice President, Corporate Relations and Responsibility at Nokia, and longtime Finnish diplomat;
- Connie Wong, CEO and Founder Vidiator, and President, Hutchison Whampoa Americas.
Also being recognized today are Sari Baldauf (Finland), for whom this will be a farewell meeting, and Adam Smith (Australia), who attended his last board meeting in December 2008. IYF thanks both of these individuals for their years of service and commitment to the organization.
While in Jordan, Board members will meet with local business and civic leaders, top representatives from global corporations and international institutions who support youth programs, including USAID, Microsoft, and Aramex. IYF’s Board will also participate in a roundtable discussion with local youth and visit program sites at the Queen Rania Family and Child Center and the Princess Basma Youth Resource Center.
